Foundation and Philosophy
The Neimus Moshe curriculum has been developed with the advice and counsel of Rabbinical leaders and educational experts. Through many hours of collaborative effort we have designed a program that offers broad knowledge of the fundamentals of Jewish life while promoting a deeper understanding of the purpose and nuance of the Torah perspective as a guide for life. Individuals are complicated and involved with the reality of financial needs and human flaws such as fear, desire for acceptance, family connections and creativite expression. Talents to be encouraged can include music abilities and enterprenurial ambitions. We aim to find synchronicity with the ideals and hashkfa of the Torah as a guide for life with the reality of each student’s unique character and challenges.
With regard to Talmudic study, the students are paired up into Chavrusos (partnerships) and guided in their learning so that each pair can learn at their own pace. The two Maggidei Shiur rotate between the Chavrusos so that a 2:1 teacher to student ratio creates the environment for an intimate and individualized learning approach. The building blocks of gemara learning: deconstructing a segment into components and verbalizing the concept aloud, then taking time to analyze a section for greater clarity, are all taken into consideration when advising students and supporting them in navigating Gemara learning. Covering a vast amount of material is especially important in preparing for their future roles as fathers; there is sensitivity and awareness that our students will want to have familiarity and confidence to be a part of their child’s learning and be on par with the fathers of their children’s classmates and peers.
Amongst other areas of study, emphasis is given to the Kitzur Shulchan Aruch classes with the Rosh Yeshiva. Each student is urged to develop competency and independence in the primary aspects of the day to day guidelines of Jewish life – halachos.
